My first car story

The car did not have any major issues and was awesome! I took it on a soft off-roading trip on away to some remote campsites. The performance was adequate and the clearance the Subaru provides surely helped me a lot in navigating around uneven terrain. Highway and road performance was also comfortable. I had a couple of inexpensive wheel repairs I had to do over the scope of my ownership but otherwise car was in great shape

It was early pandemic times and car sales has started to plummet because nobody was sure what is even going on with world. People were cancelling their insurances and nobody was interested in buying cars since everybody were ordered to stay at home. For me this was an excellent chance to buy myself a car at a good price. Negotiation went fast and the sales guy drooped price quickly and without any hesitation. Thus the deal was sealed at a price of 20***$ CAD. Not my actual car, just an example

Good things does not last long

Vancouver is not known for heavy winters and that comes with its caveats that winter tires are considered to be optional. That is not really a fool proof approach. On a rare occasion, Vancouver gets so much snow and ice on the road that everybody who does not believe in winter tires will regret this. My car was equipped with all-season tires which in reality are only 3 season tires.

While I was away for a winter holiday trip my partner was left with the car to drive for her chores. That winter it did not take long for Vancouver to get covered in snow. Some black ice on the roads, a steep curve turn, oh shit break slam, airbags popped and the car is in a deep ditch, KO.

That concludes part 1 of the car series. Tune back to part 2 to learn how to deal with insurance and claim settlement.
